Gray Squirrel Removal

Gray Squirrel

Gray squirrels usually mate and have two litters per year. One in the Spring and the second one in the late Summer. The number of young varies between three to five squirrels per litter.

Gray Squirrels often den in the attic of homes and garages. They will gnaw holes in louver vents, roof soffits and sometimes they even gnaw holes inside of house attics. Safeway Wildlife Control traps Gray Squirrels with live cage traps and relocates them at least ten miles away from the residence to insure they will not return. When all squirrels are gone Safeway Wildlife Control can seal the entrance hole to prevent future problems.

Keeping Squirrels Out

Because of the damage Squirrels can do to electrical wiring, it is best to keep them out of your home or building. After trapping the Squirrels out one should carefully seal, with strong wire mesh, any holes under eaves or attic vents made by the offending squirrels.

Keeping trees and vines cut away from your home or building is also helpful in preventing Squirrel access to your eaves and roof. The best time to trap and relocate squirrels is when the young are at least six weeks old.

Flying Squirrel Removal

Flying Squirrels

Flying Squirrels are small, adorable Squirrels with big black eyes and a flat tail. They are about the size of a chipmunk. Flying Squirrels are the only nocturnal squirrels in Connecticut. These squirrels usually enter dwellings through small holes at the comer of dormers or roof eaves and roof louver vents.

In Connecticut we have both Northern Flying Squirrels and the more common Southern Flying Squirrels. In the winter several squirrel families may share a nest, thus cutting heat loss and reduces the amount of food that is needed. Flying Squirrels often use old Wood Pecker holes as their den.

Flying Squirrels do not actually fly, but use their extra skin membrane extending between their front and hind legs to glide from one tree to another. They can glide 150 feet in horizontal distance.

How Safeway Wildlife & Pest Control Can Help Today:

Safeway Wildlife & Pest Control traps Flying Squirrels using live cage traps and they are relocated at least 10 miles away from your residence or business. These creatures are quite social—Safeway Wildlife & Pest Control has actually removed 32 Flying Squirrels out of one attic!

Once trapping is complete it is prudent to seal all holes, the roof and dormers (as with bat proofing) to prevent a re-infestation of Flying Squirrels.
